Language Instruction FAQ

Will I be taught by a professional?
Absolutely! It is very important to learn a language from a qualified teacher because language is more than words -- it is cultural. All of our teachers have vast ESL training and teaching experience with many of them certified through CELTA or similar certification training.

Classes can be private -- one-on-one; or, group classes which usually consist of 3 to 7 students. This allows for individualized attention thus enhancing the learning process.

How long will it take me to become fluent in the language that I am studying?
Our program is largely conversational and we believe the more you practice the language, the sooner you will be fluent. This emphasis on conversation is not just limited to the classroom, but is encouraged for use in daily life. We will teach you to speak in full sentences from day one, and with practice and the guidance of our experienced teachers, you will be fluent as soon as it is possible for you.

How do you determine my level?
Our teachers will make this assessment during your first class. The ability to use verb tenses, prepositions, and correct sentence structure are the most determining factors is this evaluation.

What about the curriculum? What will I be learning in the classes?
Once your level of fluency has been determined, the teacher will follow a program for your specific needs. Conversation is strongly encouraged (speaking and listening/comprehension) along with vocabulary, reading, and writing skills.
